Cold rolling is a deformation process by continuous and progressive folding using motorized rotating rollers. Initially in a coil, the width of which corresponds to the development of the finished profile, the coil passes through the different stages of rollers. Cutting operations, deformations or holes can be carried out at the end of the operations. All types of materials can be worked by cold rolling such as steel, galvanized steel, stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, etc.
The non-recurring costs (roller costs, cutting tool costs, development costs) of this technology being relatively high, cold rolling is often used for the production of very large quantities of mechanical parts. Machines are often installed on sites and produce only one type of product.
With a fleet of cold rolling machines capable of producing profiles with dimensions of 5 to 300mm and thicknesses of 0.5 to 3mm, Osborn Metals can meet the production requests for cold rolled products for customers who do not wish to invest in a cold rolling machine.
In complete synergy with cold drawing activities, the profiles can be heat treated and can benefit, like tubes, bars and profiles obtained by cold drawing, from the same aeronautical processes and qualifications.
